PALMETTO- It was a search across multiple states that lasted almost a week.
Tricia Freeman body was in Florida the entire time.
According to Palmetto Chief of Police, Scott Tyler, freeman’s daughter, 21-year-old Kayla Colyer and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Roy Nichols jr. Were arrested after a warrant was issued once the victims care went missing.
The couple abandoned the car in a park in Ashland, Kentucky where authorities found the vehicle and once closely examined found traces of the victim’s blood in the trunk.
The suspects were arrested in West Virginia after a store clerk recognized then at a truck stop.
After being arrested the suspects confessed and informed the detectives where Freeman’s body was located.
With the help of cadaver dogs and detectives, Freemans’ remains were located in Levy County.
Nichols said he murdered freeman during an argument then put the body in her car before heading out of state.
According to the Department of Corrections page, Nichols lived in Chiefland, FL in Levy County when he was released from prison in 2010 after serving a year and a half for grand theft.
According to Palmetto PD, Nichols will face a murder charge and Colyer will be charged with accessory to the fact.
The duo will go in front of a West Virginia judge tomorrow to discuss extradition.
The suspects are expected to be back in Florida by the end of the week.
